In 2007, and after more than 15 years of activities in the fields of environmental education and sustainable development, T.E.R.R.E. Liban came up with a chart of 12 rules which aiming at helping Lebanese citizen to behave in a respectful way towards their environment, under the name of "The Lebanese Ecocitizen Chart".

The first phase of this project tackles about 150,000 students aged 8 to 13 years old in 1,139 Lebanese primary and intermediary public schools during two academic years 2007-2008 and 2008-2009.

This first phase is funded by the European Union (EU) and directed by the Office of the Minister of State for Administrative Reform under AFKAR II program.

During the second phase, T.E.R.R.E. Liban aims at promoting its project in private schools and among youth groups in order to sensitize the Lebanese citizens towards the respect and the protection of the environment taking into consideration their civic engagement.

Therefore, and in order to implement this project, T.E.R.R.E. Liban focuses on the active education technique and the formation of animators who, in turn, will pass on the message for students following an educational kit that includes:

•-          A descriptive booklet (in Arabic).

•-          A manual of activities (in Arabic).

•-          A CD-Rom that included 240 photos about the environmental situation in Lebanon.

•-          A DVD about an environmental film "Billy in the City of Recycling".

Finally the ecocitizenship card has already been distributed for more than 150,000 students. The card is considered as a mean to spread the news for the surrounding and it includes the chart and the engagement on how to become good ecocitizens.
