Youth Climate Academy: Climate Change, Climate Justice, Climate Action. 2024

In September 2024, TERRE Liban, in partnership with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, proudly hosted the inaugural Youth Climate Academy in the picturesque town of Douma, North Lebanon. This transformative initiative brought together 20 dynamic young men and women from across Lebanon, selected for their passion and potential to lead change in their communities. Held from September 3 to September 5, the Academy marked a milestone in empowering Lebanon’s youth to take an active role in addressing climate change and fostering sustainable development.

Vision and Goals

The Youth Climate Academy aimed to:

  • Equip participants with essential knowledge about climate change, biodiversity, and environmental challenges in Lebanon.
  • Foster advocacy and action-oriented thinking to tackle critical environmental issues, such as waste and water management, degrowth, and wildfire prevention.
  • Cultivate leadership, communication, and planning skills to empower participants as future climate advocates.

Through this Academy, TERRE Liban and Friedrich Ebert Stiftung sought to establish a network of youth climate champions who would lead grassroots initiatives and collaborate with communities, municipalities, and organizations to drive tangible environmental change.
